Inorganic Chemicals (other than Salt and Marine Chemicals)
Application Uses
  • Medical Grade Oxygen Separation from Air
  • Zeolite 13X adsorbent granules are physically robust and have high adsorption capacity for impurities like water, alcohols and other oxygenates, sulfur compounds, and carbon dioxide.
Salient Technical Features

The nitrogen adsorption capacity of developed granules is comparable with commercially available adsorbents for oxygen separation from air.

Business scope & opportunity

Presently, the Indian requirement of air separation grade Zeolite 13X is mostly fulfilled by imported adsorbents. Therefore, the developed Zeolite 13X granule process has an excellent opportunity for indigenous adsorbent production.

Environment Considerations

The process generates alkaline effluent containing sodium hydroxide which can be treated using appropriate techniques to recycle/reuse DM or RO water.

Status Commercialization
Major Raw Materials Needed

Silica source (sodium silicate or silica-containing waste), Alumina source (Sodium Aluminate, Aluminum Trihydrate, or alumina waste), sodium hydroxide, RO or Demineralized water and Clay binder

Major Plant Equipment

Raw material storage tanks, solution preparation tanks, Jacketed Reactor with a stirrer, Pumps, Filter press, spray drier, packing unit, etc.

Techno-Economics

Technology using economic raw materials for the preparation of Zeolite-13X granules will make the process techno-economical feasible and competitive in the open market.
