Applications are invited for Project Associate – I (PAT-I) to work in the CSIR Fast-Track Translational Research Project entitled “Microalgal based Sustainable Aviation Fuel through Biorefinery Model” funded by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi.

Essential qualifications for Project Associate – I (PAT-I):

M.Sc. Degree in Microbiology/Biotechnology/Botany from recognized university.

OR

B.E or B.Tech in Biotechnology/Biochemical Engineering/Fermentation Technology/Bioprocess Engineering/Industrial Biotechnology from a recognised University.

Monthly Emoluments:

(a) Rs.31,000/- + HRA for those candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET incl. lectureship/assistant professorship OR GATE OR those who have qualified National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments like DBT/DST or equivalent and/or their Agencies/Institutions.

(b) Rs.25,000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (a) above.

Desirable: Candidates having research experience in the area of Microalgal Biotechnology or Microalgal Mass Cultivation or Valorisation of Microalgal Biomass and experience in the area of microbial fermentation would be preferred. The selected candidate will have to work on the project entitled “Microalgal based Sustainable Aviation Fuel through Biorefinery Model” for a period of one year. The candidate would be working in microalgal mass cultivation, optimization of microalgal cultivation process, Oil extraction from microalgal biomass at lab scale and pilot scale, nutraceutical formulation, process development and demonstration of the above processes.

Job Requirement: Competency in microalgal mass cultivation, optimization of upstream conditions for improving biomass and lipid yield, and process scale up would be preferred.

Age: (As on the last date of receipt of applications through e-mail, i.e. 30/09/2026), maximum 35 years for  Project Associate -I. Age relaxation is applicable as per CSIR rules.

Duration: This position are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The engagement of a project staff in different projects either in the CSIR - Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute, Bhavnagar or different Lab./Instt. of CSIR taken together shall not exceed 06 years in any case. It would, therefore, not confer any right/claim implicit or explicit for any candidate for claiming extension or absorption in CSIR-CSMCRI, Bhavnagar.  

  1. The decision of Director, CSIR-CSMCRI in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications, mode of selection, conduct of interview, cancellation of advertisement etc.  will be final and binding on the candidates and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained in this connection from any individual or person or agency.
  2.   3. The number of vacancies is provisional and may vary. The Director, CSIR-CSMCRI reserves the right to cancel all or part of the advertised vacancies at any stage of recruitment process without giving any reason thereof.
  4. Age relaxation for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Women categories shall be as per Government of India/CSIR instructions issued from time to time.
  5. If it is found at any stage of the process or thereafter that the candidate does not fulfill the eligibility criteria their candidature shall be cancelled without assigning any reason whatsoever.
  6. Experience certificates must clearly indicate the duration of experience, place of work, and position held.

Applications received by email will be scrutinized based on a certain criteria and only shortlisted candidates as are eligible as per the criteria will be asked to attend interview using online mode, i.e. MSTEAMS.
