Zeolite 13X Granules for Air Separation

IPR Status & Details:

IN 202211070211

Application/Uses/Problem being addressed

  • Medical Grade Oxygen Separation from Air
  • Zeolite 13X adsorbent granules are physically robust and have high adsorption capacity for impurities like water, alcohols and other oxygenates, sulfur compounds, and carbon dioxide.
  • Salient Technical Features including Competing Features/ Impact

The nitrogen adsorption capacity of developed granules is comparable with commercially available adsorbents for oxygen separation from air.

TRL Level & Scale of Development:- TRL 2 TRL Reference

    Zeolite 13X Powder (Kg Scale)

    Zeolite 13X Granules (25 g Scale)

Business scope & opportunity (in terms of scale, cost, market etc.)

Presently, the Indian requirement of air separation grade Zeolite 13X is mostly fulfilled by imported adsorbents. Therefore, the developed Zeolite 13X granule process has an excellent opportunity for indigenous adsorbent production.

    Environmental Considerations

The process generates alkaline effluent containing sodium hydroxide which can be treated using appropriate techniques to recycle/reuse DM or RO water.
